How to compare offers fairly
- Per bag, at the same size. Bags are 40 lb (18.1 kg) in most stores, but 15 kg and 20 lb bags exist. Divide by the weight.
- Per kg, if sizes differ: price ÷ kg in the bag.
- Per ton, delivered. A one-ton pallet holds 50 bags of 40 lb. Add delivery, then divide by 50 for a true price per bag.
- Per unit of heat, if you want to be thorough: a pellet with less moisture and ash gives more heat per bag. See how to judge a pellet.
Why prices change through the year
Demand climbs in September and peaks in October, when most households stock up. Spring and summer are usually the calmest time to buy, with the best availability. See when to buy wood pellets and our current deals.
Is a pallet cheaper?
Usually per bag, and it is far more convenient than carrying 50 bags home. Our pallet prices and delivery fees are on the bulk wood pellets page.
